Passport Requirements

Before you fly away on your international vacation, be sure to have your passport ready. It's your key to the gates of paradise, and you don't want to be locked out!

Today, international travel (even just crossing the border) can be a process that doesn't always move as quickly as we would like. So don't wait. Make life easier on yourself. Check to make sure your passport is valid, and will be valid and for six months after your trip. Remember, all U.S. citizens need a valid passport to travel internationally.

Travel Requirements

You will be required to present a valid passport upon check-in with airport security and the airlines. A valid passport is required for all U.S. citizens travelling to Mexico and for re-entry into the United States. Please be sure to check the expiration date on your passport as it should remain valid for up to six months after the end of your trip.

If you need a new passport, some words of advice

The U.S. State Department has a comprehensive website with all the information you will need to obtain a new passport or renew your current passport.

Start early. Using normal procedures, getting a new passport typically takes up to six weeks. A number of expedited services are available for a fee. Please start early!
