"Green" Organizations and Certification Programs

www.nahb.org - National Association of Home Builders' Certified Green Professional™ (CGP) designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes - without driving up the cost of construction. See their web page about Energy & Green Building »

www.usgbc.org - The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community of leaders working to make green buildings available to everyone within a generation. LEED Certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest green building and performance measures.

www.energystar.gov - Energy Star Products are certified by the U.S. Department of Energy to help save energy over the lifetime of the appliance or other product. But beyond that, contractors can use ENERGY STAR recommended practices to increase their revenues, improve customer satisfaction, and make homes perform better.

www.fscus.org - The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world's forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.
